Medical personnel shall not refuse treatment without justifiable grounds.
Patients have the right to receive sufficient explanations from their attending physician or nurse regarding their disease status, treatment methods, involvement in medical research, organ transplantation, expected outcomes including side effects, and medical expenses. They can ask detailed questions and have the right to decide whether to consent.
Patients shall not have their secrets regarding their physical and health conditions related to medical treatment or their privacy infringed upon. Medical personnel and medical institutions shall not disclose or announce such secrets except when the patient consents or as required by law, such as for criminal investigations.
Patients can express complaints and inconveniences within the hospital. In case of disputes related to medical services, they can apply for counseling and mediation with the Korea Consumer Agency or the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency.
Patients have the right to be protected from various physical dangers within the hospital.
Patients must accurately inform medical personnel of their health-related information and must trust and respect the treatment plan of the medical personnel.
Patients must identify themselves before treatment and must not seek treatment through false or dishonest means, such as using another person's name.
Patients have the responsibility to observe public order and hospital regulations to protect the rights and interests of other patients and staff.
